The design, inspired by the desire to create a space that offers freedom of movement and a unique spatial experience, caters to an adult married couple who occasionally host their grandchildren. Materia 174 has prioritized the convertible qualities of space, natural light, and personalization to create an environment that is both luxurious and homely.
What sets Zero Gravity apart is its unique use of lighting. The lamps, expressive both with and without light, create a special effect. For instance, the angel wings in the living room have the ability to dematerialize, dissolving into space, adding a surreal touch to the room. The design also incorporates masculine and feminine elements, with the male half using masculine textures, colors, and images, and the female half drawing inspiration from the concept of a luxury boutique.
The design has been realized using systems with cooling and radiating surfaces as the main source of climate control. These systems, which include warm cold floors, walls, and ceiling, not only improve the quality of life of the residents but also protect the environment. Materia 174 believes that elements like climate, smell, and air freshness are integral parts of modern interior design.
The design project, which commenced in January 2019 and was completed in May 2020, was carried out in Ukraine. The design team, which included Mykhailo Ilchenko, Aleona Pryadko, Anna Hryb, Victoriia Shevchenko, Kyra Tymchenko, Aleksandr Dityatev, Svetlana Meleshko, and Ludmila Chynnyk, faced the challenge of maintaining a balance between rounded forms and rational lines, and personalizing each room for its owners and function.
Zero Gravity was awarded Silver in A' Interior Space, Retail and Exhibition Design Award in 2021. The award recognizes top-of-the-line, creative, and professionally remarkable designs that demonstrate outstanding expertise and innovation. The design, admired for its strong technical characteristics and splendid artistic skill, showcases a remarkable level of excellence and introduces positive feelings, amazement, and wonder.
